The “Braille Brothers” Series #1: Ink & Braille – Share Docs with Sighted Peers/Teachers

Hear from the “Braille Brothers”, IRIE CEO, Jeff Gardner, and ViewPlus CEO, Dan Gardner – sharing the webinar stage for the first time ever!

Join us to see a variety of solutions for embossing braille along with ink on the same page. Learn how to utilize the VP SpotDot for color ink and braille and VP Elite with InkConnect for volume ink and braille production. And see how the IRIE BrailleSheet and VP Delta can be used with an inkjet printer, as a cost-effective method for ink and braille printing.

Students often have teachers, peers and family members around them who want to participate more in their education/lives but cannot read braille. Combining ink and braille on the same page means everyone can read together. It guarantees a blind student will not receive the wrong test or assignment and generally improves communication between braille-readers and the sighted world around them.

Join us as two of the world’s most experienced braille and tactile graphics trainers band together; with IRIE CEO, Jeff Gardner, combining forces with his brother and CEO of ViewPlus, Dan Gardner, for the first time in a public webinar. And look forward to more presentations from the “Braille Brothers” in the future!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn how the combination of braille and ink on the same document is useful for communication between braille-readers and sighted peers, teachers and others
  2. See how the VP SpotDot color ink embosser and VP Elite with InkConnect can emboss braille and print ink on the same page, simultaneously
  3. Discover how combining ink and braille on the same page can be accomplished using various embossers and techniques

Best in Braille Series #1: IRIE Braille Buddy – Personal Braille Embosser

Wednesday October 14th – 10AM PST
Host: Jeff Gardner, CEO, IRIE-AT
Special guest presenter: Jina Kang; parent of a 3-year-old blind child and enthusiastic Braille Buddy user

Join us to see the IRIE Braille Buddy in action; the world’s most affordable and portable braille embosser. Blind children need braille to be literate and need tactile graphics to learn structure and study STEM subjects. Yet, the cost of a braille embosser/printer can be cost-prohibitive for parents of blind children, and even for many schools; particularly an embosser that can emboss both braille and tactile graphics effectively.

The IRIE Braille Buddy does it all, for less than half the price of most desktop embossers. It can emboss braille and tactile graphics and can use both cut-sheet and tractor fed paper. The Braille Buddy even comes with braille and tactile graphics software, included.

The IRIE Braille Buddy is also portable and has an optional rolling carry case. So, you can easily move it between school and home.

We will be joined by a special guest panelist, Jina Kang; parent of a 3-year-old blind child and active user of the IRIE Braille Buddy embosser. Jina will demonstrate some tips and tricks that she has learned in using her Braille Buddy embosser for transcribing books for her child.

In today’s “new normal”, the need for such an affordable and portable braille printer has never been greater. Join us to learn how the IRIE Braille Buddy could be a cost-effective option for you to bring more braille (and literacy) into the lives of the blind children around you.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn how the IRIE Braille Buddy is used by parents to support their children with braille and tactile graphics
  2. See a light-weight, portable braille embosser with a rolling case, that can easily be transported between home and school/work
